Carelton Russell Little League will host the Ontario Little League 2013 Major Provincial Championship!

The tournament will be held in Casselman from July 21 to July 30, 2013.

7 to 9 teams from across the province will attend.

CRLL are currently looking for volunteers and sponsors for this event.

Little League has released the new rules for 2013. There are a number of them. Here are the highlights:

• Addition of Intermediate age group (11-13). 11 & 12 can play BOTH Major & Intermediate, 13 can play BOTH Intermediate & Junior. Players can be eligible for either Tournament team, but only for age groups in which they played 60% of the team's games, and can only be named to one team.

• Pitchers who reach a "threshold", for example 20 pitches when another one pitch would mean an day's rest, can finish the current batter -- for example, pitches 19 to 23 on one batter -- and only have to rest for the threshold's requirement. In our example, he threw 23 but does not have to rest any days since 20 requires none.

• Mandatory play for Tournament teams changes slightly... if you carry 13 or more players, mandatory play is one at-bat. There is no longer a fielding requirement. For 12 and under, it is still 1 at bat and 6 defensive outs.

• Tournament teams must now carry a minimum of 12 players. DAs can approve exceptions if there are good reasons.
